improvement! In this half-day workshop you'll be introduced

behavioral health care. His areas of expertise are in evaluation,
quality improvement, and organizational development. Dr. Colton has

article Overcoming Resistance to Performance Measurement
in Behavioral Health Care Organizations appears in the Spring,
2003 issue of the journal Measuring Up. Dr. Colton, also

FIT FOR LIFE– Enhancing Physical Fitness Among Special Populations
Fit
For Life workshops are implemented throughout the United States for
anyone wishing to improve the level of health and well being of an
individual with a disability. By introducing its audience to the terminology,
characteristics, and the ability of people with disabilities, this
workshop promotes a progressive approach to health education.
The
audience for Fit For Life can be divided into a number of
segments. The first segment is direct staff and health care professionals
who are interested in improving their skills, implementing new services,
and integrating activities to include special populations. As members
of this group, these professionals are directly responsible for educating
themselves, their students or clients, and the public.
The
second group is those for whom improving the quality of life for special
populations is a personal experience. This population will be implementing
these strategies at home, perhaps for the first time, and may need
a guideline that tells them what one might expect.
Finally,
existing instructors and fitness professionals will be able to specialize
and/or update their skills in an area that most have little experience.
Having these skills will improve any instructor’s ability to
deliver quality services to diverse, integrated, and/or specialized
classrooms.
The
workshop (including course materials, quiz, handbook, and certificate)
will serve both as a useful reference and a guide to practical procedures
for dealing with special populations. A must for any person or agency
serious about promoting optimal health for individuals with disabilities.
